Qualifications: Essential: A. Educational : Degree in Engineering or Master’s Degree in Mathematics / Physics / Geography / Geodesy of a recognized University or equivalent. B. Experience: Eighteen years’ experience in a Senior Administrative and managerial position in an Engineering organization or a Scientific Laboratory in the related field. 2. (Ref.No.F.1/58/2009-R-V) Three Assistant Professors in Mechanical Engineering (Technical) in Delhi College of Engineering, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi. Out of three posts, two posts are reserved for OBC candidates and remaining one post is reserved for SC candidates. Qualifications : Essential : Educational : A- i) Ph.D Degree with first class degree at Bachelors or Master’s level in Mechanical Engineering / Technology together from a recognized University or equivalent. ii) Three years’ experience in Teaching / Industry / Research at the level of Lecturer or equivalent. OR B- i) First class degree at Master’s level in the Mechanical Engineering / Technology from a recognized University or equivalent. ii) 5 years’ experience in teaching / industry / research at the level of Lecturer or equivalent. Such candidates will be required to obtain Ph.D Degree within a period of 7 years from the date of appointment as Assistant Professor. OR C- Candidates from Industry / Profession with first class Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Technology from a recognized University or equivalent and professional work which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D Degree and with 5 years Industrial / Professional experience would also be eligible. NOTE : If a Class / Division is not awarded at B.E. / B.Tech., M.E./M.Tech. / Equivalent Degree, a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate shall be considered equivalent to first Class/Division. If a grade point system is adopted, CGPA will be converted to equivalent marks and Minimum CGPA shall be 6.75 in the scale of 10. DUTIES : To perform all the academic activities including examination work in Mechanical Engineering specially in the field related to Thermal Engineering / Production / Design. TEST (DRDO SET) - 2009








Note : Out of above reservation, 10 (01 current + 09 backlog) vacancies are reserved for PHP(Physically Handicapped
persons), in which 05 vacancies are reserved for Orthopaedic Handicapped(OH) and 05 vacancies for Hearing
Handicapped(HH) persons in the non-exempted disciplines marked with asterisk (*). However, DRDS cadre in DRDO, has
been exempted from the purview of Section-33 of Persons with Disability Act, 1995, in the areas of Chemical Engg
,Electrical Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg and Mechanical Engg.

1. ELIGIBILITY
a. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Atleast first class Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics & Communication
Engg / Mechanical Engg / Computer Science & Engg/ Chemical Engg/ Electrical Engg from a
recognized University in respective/relevant discipline.
Note : If a class/division is not awarded at B.E./B.Tech or equivalent degree, a minimum of 60% marks in
aggregate or 6.75 CGPA shall be considered equivalent for grade points on a ten point scale.
b. AGE LIMIT
The upper age limit not exceeding 28 years (as on 5th June 2009).
Age relaxation: Maximum relaxation in upper age limit will be as under:-
i) Upto 05 years in case of SC/ST candidates
ii) Upto 03 years in case of OBC candidates
iii) Upto 05 years for Physically Handicapped Persons (10 years for SC/ST and 08
years for OBC candidates) in identified disciplines even if no posts are reserved for
them in these areas.
iv) In case of Ex-serviceman, services rendered in the armed forces plus 3 years

2. SET - 2009
After ensuring that the above eligibility conditions are satisfied, candidates are required to apply in the
Electronically Scannable Application Form specified for DRDO SET - 2009. These application forms
with the information brochure containing the syllabus and instructions for filling the application will be
available at the designated Branches of State Bank of India (for details visit http://rac.drdo.in ) from
5th May 2009 to 5th Jun 2009 to General/OBC candidates on payment of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 100/-for the
application form with information brochure and Rs. 200/- as Exam. fees). For SC/ST candidates there is
no Exam fees and the application form with information brochure will be available to such candidates on
payment of Rs 100/- only. Forms purchased from the designated Branches of State Bank of India should
be filled in accordance with the instructions given in information brochure. However, for HH/OH
candidates, there is no Application / Examination fee. Such candidates may obtain application form free of
cost from RAC by sending a copy of “Prescribed Disability Certificate” issued by competent authority
as per G.I.,Dept. of Per. & Trg.,O.M. No 36035/3/2004-Estt (Res), dated 29 Dec 2005. The filled in
application forms should be sent/submitted to The Director, Recruitment & Assessment Centre,
Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi – 110054 latest by 5th Jun 2009. The application form should be
filled carefully, without over writing, as these will be machine processed and no manual checking
will be done. Onus of satisfying the eligibility requirements for appearing in SET-2009 lies with the
candidate. In respect of applications sent by Post by candidates from Andaman & Nicobar Islands and
Lakshadweep, closing date of receipt of applications is 15th June 2009. Candidates appearing in the
final examination (final semester) may also apply. However, candidates found eligible for interview,
will be allowed to appear for the same if their final result is declared on or before 31st Aug 2009.
Candidates will be required to appear for the DRDO SET of three hours duration. Each candidate
appearing for the Test will be given one Question Booklet containing objective type questions. Each
booklet will have two sections. Section ‘A’ will consist of 100 questions to test the candidate’s
knowledge in the subject as per syllabus. Each question will have 4 choices one of which will be correct.
Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks and for each incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted. Section
‘B’ will consist of 50 questions to test the candidate’s aptitude relevant to Applied Research &
Development. The standard of Section ‘B’ will be such as may be expected from Engineering Graduates.
Each question will have 4 choices one of which will be correct. Each correct answer will fetch 2 marks
and for each incorrect answer 1/2 mark will be deducted. The merit list will be prepared based on the
marks obtained by the candidates in Section A and Section B and this list will be used for shortlisting the
candidates to be called for interview purely on merit basis limited to a reasonable number and subject to
minimum qualifying criteria as decided by RAC.

of sufficient number of candidates.
5. CERTIFICATES
Copies of certificates/testimonials regarding qualifications, cast, employment etc. should NOT be
attached with the application form. Candidates, shortlisted for interview after the test will, however,
be required to produce original certificates alongwith one Xerox set for verification at the time of
interview. Candidates serving in Central/State / Govt. /PSU/Autonomous body etc. will be required
to bring ‘NOC' from their respective Department / Employer at the time of interview failing which
candidates will not be allowed to appear for the interview.
6. The final selection of the candidates will be based purely on merit of their performance in the
interview. In accordance with the subject wise merit, the offer of appointment to the selected
candidates will be restricted to the number of vacancies. The appointment, however, will be subject
to satisfying conditions like qualifying the Medical examination prescribed for Group ‘A’
Technical posts of Govt. of India with Field Service Liability and character verification besides
verification of SC/ST/OBC/HH/OH certificate, if applicable. All Scientists ‘B’ to be inducted
through DRDO SET - 2009 will initially undergo for Post Induction Training (POINT) at Pune.
Selected candidates have the liability to serve anywhere in India.

competent authority mentioning their subject. The request for obtaining the form must reach
Director RAC, Lucknow Road, Timarpur, Delhi-110054 latest by 25th May 2009, accompanied with
two self addressed white slips of size 4” x 3”. The envelope must indicate “REQUEST FOR
APPLICATION FORM SET-2009,ADVT NO. –94”.
9. Candidates are advised to keep a photocopy of the application form for use in future.
10. Those applications, which are not completed by the candidates in accordance with the
instructions or those received late due to any reason, will be summarily rejected and no
correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

All Scientists in Pay Band-3 with Grade Pay of Rs. 6600 & Rs. 7600 and Scientists in Pay Band-4 with Grade Pay of Rs. 8700 will receive 2 additional increments over their normal pay. These increments will not be treated as part of the pay for any purpose and will remain constant during entire period of residency in the grade. Besides, Professional Update Allowance of Rs. 10000/- per annum will be payable to the Scientists in PB-3 (Rs.15600-39100) with Grade Pay of Rs.5400, Rs.6600 and Rs.7600. Similarly Professional Update Allowance of Rs. 20000/- per annum will be payable to the Scientists in PB-4 (Rs.37400-67000) with Grade Pay of Rs.8700. The Professional Update Allowance per annum is additional to the monthly total emoluments (T.E.) mentioned against each Group IV Scientist post.
CSIR allows additional income to its scientists through licensing of knowledgebase.
Scientists are entitled for career advancement on the basis of Flexible Complementing Scheme of CSIR.
Candidates on appointment will be governed by new pension scheme of Central Government effective from 01-01-2004. However candidates working prior to 01-01-2004 in other Departments/Autonomous body/PSU/Central Universities having pension scheme on GOI pattern and applying through proper channel, if selected, will continue to be governed by CCS(Pension) rules, 1972.
The date of determining the age/experience/qualifications shall be the closing date of receipts of applications.
The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities/Institutions in the areas mentioned against each posts.
The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, where prescribed shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum prescribed educational qualification for the post.
Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for the employees working in CSIR Labs/Government/ Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector Undertakings and for Physically challenged candidates in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Govt. of India in this regard.
The date for determining the upper age limit and qualification will be reckoned as on 25-05-2009.
The above posts shall carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government employees, as have been made applicable to CSIR employees of the same status stationed at Lucknow.
Relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 years applicable for persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of J&K during the period of 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989 subject to production of a certificate from the District Magistrate in the Kashmir Division within whose jurisdiction he/she had ordinarily resided or from any other authority designated in this behalf by the Government of J&K to the effect that he/she had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the state of J&K during the period from 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989
The relaxation in age limit, qualifications and /or experience may be considered only in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates with the approval of the competent authority. Exceptionally meritorious deserving candidates may be considered for higher initial pay by the competent authority.
Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid single second class rail fare to and fro by the shortest route from the place of residence/actual departing station in India whichever is nearer to the place of interview.
